Dan Ackman has successfully represented New York City's taxi drivers in a series of civil rights actions claims against the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC). His cases have resulted in a state court order opening the TLC courts to the public; a federal court ruling that TLC courts systemically deprived taxi drivers of their constitutional rights to due process; an order that former Mayor Giuliani testify to explain his role in the TLC's "Operation Refusal" program; and a $7 million judgment for cabbiesvictimized by that Operation Refusal.  This judgment was the first ever federal court judgment on behalf of taxi drivers against the TLC.  He is currently heading class action lawsuits on behalf of taxi drivers who have had their licenses illegally suspended or revoked.

Dan is also experienced in securities and commercial litigation and has won more than $3 million in judgments in commercial actions, prevailed in claims against Donald Trump and Rudolph Giuliani, among others.

Dan has been profiled in The American Lawyer and The New York Times.  He has written on law(and other topics) for the Times, The Wall Street Journal, The American Lawyer Forbes.com, Slate and other publications.  He is a member of the bar of the State of New York, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
